According to the mythological story, the majestic wedding of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati was solemnized at this very spot. The wedding was a grand event attended by all the Devas (gods) and Rishis. Lord Vishnu himself took on the role of Goddess Parvati's brother, and it was he who performed the wedding rituals. Additionally, Lord Brahma acted as the priest for the ceremony.
It is believed that all the divine beings, including Lord Brahma, Vishnu, and other gods, first took a dip in the Brahma Kund, Vishnu Kund, and Rudra Kund, located near the temple, before attending the divine wedding. These sacred ponds are still present near the temple, and devotees take holy baths in these kunds, believing that it purifies them of all sins.

The Eternal Fire in Triyuginarayan Temple

What truly makes Triyuginarayan Temple stand out is the eternal fire that has been burning in the havan kund for three yugas (ages) since the time of Shiva and Parvati’s wedding. This fire is said to have been the same sacred fire around which Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati took their wedding vows.
Due to this eternal flame, the temple earned its name "Triyuginarayan," which means the Lord of Three Yugas. Even today, the fire continues to burn uninterrupted, symbolizing the eternal bond of the divine couple. Devotees visiting the temple offer wood to the sacred fire as prasad, believing it will bring peace and happiness to their married lives. Many couples also take embers of the sacred fire, called dhuni, back home to bless their marital journey with harmony.
