Vyas Gaddi at Naimisharanya Dham, Uttar Pradesh

Vyas Gaddi in the sacred town of Naimisharanya Dham in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh, holds immense religious and historical significance as the birthplace of some of the most important texts in Hinduism. This revered site is where Maharishi Ved Vyas, the great sage, composed the four Vedas, six Shastras, eighteen Puranas, and the Bhagavad Gita. The name “Vyas Gaddi” is derived from the seat (gaddi) where Ved Vyas is said to have sat and imparted his divine wisdom to his disciples.

Maharishi Ved Vyas, known as the author of the Mahabharata and compiler of the Vedas, spent a significant part of his life at Vyas Gaddi. It is believed that he meditated under the sacred Akshay Vat (immortal banyan tree) that still stands at the site today. This ancient tree is said to date back to the Mahabharata era, providing a peaceful sanctuary where Vyas compiled these profound scriptures. Under this very tree, Vyas narrated the Bhagavata Purana, which continues to be read and revered by devotees worldwide.
