Story of Kalpavriksha Parijat in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh
The Kalpavriksha Parijat tree originates in one of the most significant events in Hindu mythology, the Samudra Manthan (Churning of the Ocean). Among the fourteen treasures that emerged from this great churning was the Kalpavriksha, the wish-fulfilling tree, which is said to grant the deepest desires of those who come to it with faith. After its emergence, Lord Indra, the king of the gods, took the Kalpavriksha and placed it in heaven, where it stood as a divine symbol of prosperity and abundance.
How Parijat Came to Earth
The Parijat tree’s journey to Earth is an equally fascinating tale. During the Dwapar Yuga, when the Pandavas were in exile, Maharani Kunti desired to worship Lord Shiva with golden flowers. She believed that such a devotion would ensure the Pandavas' victory in the impending Mahabharata war. However, these golden flowers bloomed only on the Kalpavriksha in heaven.
Arjuna, with his dear friend Shri Krishna, traveled to the heavens and brought the Kalpavriksha to Earth to fulfill his mother's wish. The tree has since been known as the Parijat, standing tall and resilient for over 6,675 years, blessing those seeking its divine presence.
The Parijat’s Unique Characteristics
The Parijat tree is unlike any other tree on Earth. It does not bear seeds and only blooms with flowers during the months between July and October. The blossoms of this tree are said to be a sight of wonder and carry a divine fragrance.
What’s more intriguing is the saying: "जिसकी कोई जात नहीं, वही पारिजात,” meaning that the Parijat transcends all boundaries of caste, category, or distinction, symbolizing its purity and divine nature.

The Kalpavriksha Parijat tree is located at Parijat Dham in Kintoor Village, around 45 km from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
By Air: The nearest airport is Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow, about 60 km away. Taxis are available from the airport.
By Train: The nearest railway station is Lucknow Charbagh Railway Station, 50 km from the site. You can take a taxi or bus to Kintoor Village.
By Road: Parijat Dham is accessible via Lucknow-Faizabad Road (NH-27). You can drive or hire a taxi.
