Chakratirth Naimisharanya Dham in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh

Chakratirth Naimisharanya also known as Neemsar is located 30 kilometers from Sitapur in Uttar Pradesh. According to the ancient Hindu texts, it is one of the most sacred places on Earth and this holy land has a deep spiritual connection dating back to the Satya Yuga.

Once upon a time, the Asuras (demons) were causing immense trouble for the Rishis (sages), disrupting their rituals and meditations. Desperate for peace, the sages turned to Lord Brahma, the creator, seeking a place where they could practice their spirituality undisturbed. Moved by their plea, Lord Brahma created a divine chakra (disk) from the rays of the sun and instructed the Rishis to follow it. He told them that wherever the chakra would land, that place would be the most sacred on Earth.

The chakra circled the entire world and finally fell in Naimisharanya, marking the spot as holy ground. However, as soon as it landed, a powerful stream of water burst forth, flooding the area. The flow was so intense that no one could control it. In response, the sages prayed to Brahma once more for guidance.

Hearing their prayers, Brahma invoked Maa Sati, who appeared in the form of Goddess Lalita Devi. She calmed the violent waters, reducing the flow, and in its place, a tranquil pond was formed. This pond became known as the Chakra Teerth, and it has remained sacred ever since.

It is widely believed that taking a dip in the Chakra Teerth purifies the soul and washes away the sins of multiple lifetimes, making it one of the most sought-after pilgrimage sites for spiritual cleansing.
